Newsletters are GO * Algorithm Updates * Profile Tips

Hello Reader,

First up, welcome to the new look newsletter.

Following my very successful trip to San Diego, we are going to be sharing some new features with you on the newsletter. I would LOVE to hear back from you on this new approach!

Did you know?

LinkedIn has experienced incredible growth in newsletter subscriptions, reaching 450 million globally.

My personal newsletter on LinkedIn has over 4400 subs and our page has over 650. That's a combined total of over 5000 people who get our comms directly into their inbox from LinkedIn.

Discussion of the week

Daniel Roth, Editor in Chief, VP at LinkedIn spoke with Jason Feifer, Editor in Chief at Entrepreneur about the LinkedIn algortithm (lot of Ed in Chiefs in this conversation) and one thing that jumped out at me was this line:

....he told a story of a nurse who recently started posting on LinkedIn — which caught the attention of their employer, who recruited that person for a larger role. "That was economic success for this person," Roth says. "The only people that he needed to reach with this post were people who worked in this hospital."

I believe, and have spoken about this recently, that if you are tagging people in your posts on LInkedIn, those posts are shared with a smaller audience.

Here is a recent example - with a network of over 11,000 people, this post received 33 comments and 30 engagements. So you'd think it would have been viewed by a LOT of people.

Guess how many people this post was shown to?

737.

My average post is shown to over 3500 people.

So what is the difference? Could it be because

1 - I tagged someone in the post?

2 - I tagged a company page?

The conversation between Jason and Daniel suggests the platform is showing posts to audiences who are most interested in the content, but not further afield.

In the longer article they also suggest we stop trying to follow algorithm 'hacks' and shortcuts. And there are many of those. 😜

What do you think - is this something you recognise on your activity on LinkedIn?

Here's a thought.

Why not spend time on doing what hits home with your audience?

1 - build those connections

2 - engage with your network

3 - share content that resonates with your ideal client

4 - keep up the consistency!

Start with optimising that profile and take it from there. We can help or you can DIY It ⬇️

LinkedIn Retainer Package - done-for-you 'ghost writing' on LinkedIn

In 2021 I began to look at LinkedIn, a platform that I had never used but was quite overwhelmed. To short cut the learning curve, I began to engage with Louise to build my profile and look at ways to promote the business. Within a few weeks, I had Louise and team on retainer to put a media calendar together so that I could work with her team to plan out content and ensure that deadlines were met.

Both Louise and her team are excellent to deal with, they manage both me and my expectations and I could not recommend them enough. Thoroughly professional team. Thank you for all your help in the past and continued advice..

Hello Reader, Who doesn't love an easy post for LinkedIn? Yesterady I hosted a day long workshop for 12 entrepreneurs who were all relative beginners at using Linkedin - it was a lot of fun. I showed them all how to do this post, and then decided I needed to create my own. This type of content not only gets lots of engagement, but if you do it strategically, it can inform your next month's worth of posts too. Here's one I did earlier...

Hello Reader, It can be a challenge remembering to share your latest blog, podcast or video to your LinkedIn company page. Well not anymore! LinkedIn have introduced the new Company Page RSS feed. I did have this a while ago, and then it disappeared. I am happy to say it has returned. You can find it by going to Page Settings Manage Content Settings Add your RSS feed You need a few extra steps to be able to add the RSS Feed - it's not a simple website link. In today's video, I walk you...
